I was watching a woodworking video on YouTube one day when I came across a video where a guy was using, what he was calling a Carvers mallet. I thought to myself well wouldn’t that be useful around the shop and pretty easy to build.
Of course to build the head of the mallet, you are going to need a lathe but if you don’t have access to one, you could always buy a brass insert for a brass hammer. To build the handle I laminated a few different scrap pieces of wood together, then I traced out a rough shape and shaped it on a sander.
It’s kind of fun to build something like this, off-the-cuff with no plans and see what you end up with. Anyways I think it came out pretty neat, check at the video for more details.
