Super fun project! this lathe was made from the parts of an old cheap drill press.
The can turn a spindle 32″ long
The shaft from the drill press is tapered.
Can easily use the original drill chuck.
Have to drill a tapered hole for any attachments, luckily i have the correct tapered drill bit.
Step pulley,s from the drill press
Maple tail stock, made a bronze wheel and lock collar
Adapter plate to adjust belt tension and speed
tool rest locks in-between the rails
Tool rest is made from maple
Tool rest is made to turn 360 degrees
1/8″ flade bar for the tool rest
Head stock is just layers of plywood. Two locking bolts to hold the spindle in place
Tailstock has a threaded rod with a sharpe point for a dead centre
